So the release of a series of new Bollywood films showing some its leading stars naked has a whole nation girding its loins.

Bollywood films have long been known for their chaste female heroines, bursting with coy, repressed love.

But its top directors and leading actors appear to have finally cast all modesty aside in a series of new releases which show naked women in the shower, male prisoners stripping off, and passionate wet kissing.

The most eagerly awaited release of the year, Kambakkht Ishq, has Akshay Kumar, Bollywood's leading action hero, and Kareena Kapoor, locked in a steamy clinch. Kumar provoked a controversy early this year when his urged his wife to unzip his fly as he modelled jeans on a catwalk.

His film will be hot on the heels of September 11, in which John Abraham, a favourite among Indian women, is shown nude, a year after he revealed his buttocks in Dostana.

According to leading Indian director Jag Mundhra, Bollywood is finally catching up with the liberal MTV generation, which watches Western films on cable television.

He is releasing three Bollywood films this year, one of which has a shower scene showing a naked woman – one he would not have expected to get away with until recently.

"Normally it would just show shoulders and above and underneath the actors wore clothes. Now I have a shot through a translucent glass shower door," he said.

The controversy these releases have caused reflects the existence of two India's – one at the heart of a sexual revolution, or aspires to be part of it, and in the conservative Hindu 'cowbelt' where courting couples are attacked for holding hands in public.

"They may not admit it, but there is a bit more hypocrisy among audiences, and voyeurism," he said.

Curiously Aftab was no part of the publicity blitzkrieg for just released "Kambakkht Ishq" although he plays a pivotal part. There's no resentment about this omission. "I always wanted to work with Sajid Nadiadwala. My being part of the publicity was never part of the plan. I was just happy being part of such a big project. If the film works, everyone benefits and that includes me," he said. Doing "Kambakkht Ishq" had its perks, Aftab got to meet his idol Sylvester Stallone. "Coincidentally, I had watched the latest edition of his Rambo series just a few days before I shot with Stallone. We spent hours on the sets talking about how the last Rambo movie had to be shot in Thailand in place of Burma," he said. Aftab was bowled over by Stallone's discipline. "They've a guild's rule in Hollywood that actors can work only for eight hours per day. Stallone's trademark red Ferrari would drive into the studio promptly at 7 a.m. By 9 a.m. he would be ready to shoot. And so would we. "By 5 p.m. he'll be ready to leave. I learnt so much shooting with Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh. Even if I perform just a cameo, it's worth it," he said.

Forbes has revealed the world’s top earning actresses with Angelina Jolie coming top of the pile!

It’s estimated that she earned a cool $27 million between June 2008 and June 2009 for films including Wanted, Changeling and the upcoming Salt.

Jennifer Aniston came in second on the list picking up a reported $25 million for movies like Marley and Me.

Meryl Streep came just behind Aniston- earning $24 million in the last 12 months. Sarah Jessica Parker and Cameron Diaz finished fourth and fifth on the Forbes list.

In the actors countdown Harrison Ford apparently earned the most taking $65 million from his films.

First, Harry establishes that Megan, star of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, is not actually a motorcycle mechanic. Then he admits he went to see the movie in IMAX -- "with actual human beings"! -- and didn't follow it.
